Tomorrow

Hi, tomorrow night I am leaving to the U.S.A!!! I am going with all of my family. I will have more of this tomorrow night at 7:15
See you next time!

The Haircut Shop

Even though the title and starting of this story is about the haircut shop, in the middle, it changes and sneaky detectives come in. So Beware!!!
Have you ever heard of the old haircut shop down the corner of your street? Well, there is an old lady who works there and I have heard rumors that she is a witch! Now, don't worry, rumors aren't always true. The weird thing about her is she always carry's around a magic wand! Now, don't worry, this is not always a sign of witchyness, this could be a sign that she loves the idea of fairies and wants to be one herself. Oh! Sorry, I forgot to tell you my name. Here goes... I am the nice, smart, clever, super, amazing, awesome, so cool, really, good, never bad, awesomely awesome, detective Charlotte. I am the head of all the amazing detectives in the detective agency including my assistant head detector, the nice, smart, clever, super, amazing detective Freya. I am also the teacher at detective school an in my class are all the little detectives wanting to become really good at finding out mysteries. Freya and I have been trying to solve the mystery of this woman. First we made a plan. Our plan was to go and follow the woman and go to her haircut meetings and find out if she really is a witch. The detectives have helped Freya and I to partly solve the mystery. We have found out that she is not a witch but she is an evil woman. We looked up her history and were shocked to find that the had also trashed a cupcake store and knocked the owner unconscious. Freya and I decided that something had to be done. We got out our magnifying  glasses and gear to get ready for the action. While we were getting ready, the detectives in our detective agency were setting up security cameras near the woman's house. The security cameras were for safety. Everyone needs to be safe around evil people. Finally we were ready for action. As soon as we set off, the office was silent. Everyone was watching the computers.

My colouring

Squiggle Story

Today was show and tell day. James was so looking forward to it because today he was going to share his very-special-one-of-a-kind magic toy dog. It could do the most amazing things. He brought it in on Tuesday morning ready to share with the class. The class thought that it was amazing and James showed the class what his amazing very-special-one-of-a-kind magic toy dog could do. He showed everyone except Grace that it could do almost anything indeed. "That's not the best part" He said. Grace didn't get it. It was plastic. It was useless. Grace didn't get what was so special about a plastic toy dog. But for some reason, Grace needed to get that toy dog somehow. On the other hand, James was not happy. He dreaded going up to Mrs Jews desk to show her his homework he hadn't even touched. When James went up to Miss Jews to show her his homework she said ''oh my gosh is that the new very-special-one-of-a-kind magic toy dog'' and she kissed the small toy on it's nose and gave James a grape pop without even looking at his homework. Because of this, Grace grew more and more jealous of James and his very-special-one-of-a-kind magic toy dog, so she hatched a plan. The next time James had to write his name under the word, Discipline for spitting gum at the back of Benjamin's head, Grace leaned over and quickly opened James's desk before taking the very-special-one-of-a-kind magic toy dog out of it. Suddenly Grace let out a huge scream and started running around the classroom like crazy. The very-special-one-of-a-kind magic toy dog's teeth were clinging onto Grace's finger really tight and her finger was turning red very quickly. ''Well'' said James, ''that is the best part''

My Speech-Why we shouldn't use palm oil

With the rate of our using of palm oil as it is, there with be no more orangatangs in 2 years time. Have you ever thought about that before? I believe we must make a change and stop using PALM OIL! Listen and you will find out why we shouldn’t use palm oil, what orangutans are what they do, and how some brands say that their products have vegetable oil instead of palm oil.

Orangatangs are gentle and amazing animals. There used to be 5000 orangatangs left in the world but because we use palm oil, these amazing animals are endangered and will become extinct. Palm oil is made from trees.

When the trees are harvested the orangatangs food source and haitat is removed. They are then often killed by hunters because they can not hide in the jungle behind the trees.

Orangatangs can’t speak for themselves, but if they could, they would say that most of New Zealand and America’s snack foods are made with palm oil. That is destroying approximately 6000 orangatang homes’ each year.
If you do the math, that means if we keep going on using palm oil like we are now, This cold be our last year with the orangutangs. Isn’t that terrible?

So why should we use palm oil? After all, why do we even need it? For instance, palm oil is not actually that good for you, if you listen to environmentalists and people from animal-rights companies along with nutrition and health experts, they'll tell you it's something close to poison.

Besides that, you would be taking a big risk just buying one product with palm oil in it - you could be destroying another orangatang and it’s family’s home - the jungle. As palm oil is one of the worlds most popular vegetable oils, we have to admit that this isn’t just some small scale problen to be dealt with, it is a huge problem.
But we can stop it. By telling brands that use palm oil, to quit it. Sometimes brands are so interested in selling their foods, that they sometimes forget to put palm oil on the back of the product they are selling.

Palm oil is a common ingreidient of magarines, biscuits, breads, breakfast cereals, instant noodles, shampoos, lipsticks, candles, detergents, chocolates, ice cream, peanut butter, and chocolate spreads such as nutella!

Quite often companies don’t actually mention palm oil on their ingredient list but it’s still there. Palm oil can be listed as palm oil kernal, palmate, oil palm plant, hydrated palm glycirides, and so much more.

So I have informed you of how palm oil is badly affecting a particular animal species and that many processed food products contain palm oil as an ingredient.

Now it is your turn to help do something about it. If all of us in room 32 go home and help our families to avoid buying foods with palm oil in them, that will be a good start.

It would be even better if you told your grandparents, your cousins and your friends about palm oil destroying the orangatangs habitat and help them to stop buying food containing palm oil. With a bit of effort we will help save these beautiful creatures

Animals in Samoa

Animals living in Samoa are really quite awesome. One important animal living here is the flying fox or fruit bat as some call it. They go sky-high over the Samoan ridgeline. This mega bat is found in Fiji and Samoa. Flying foxes, also know as fruit bats, are one of the more unusual animals in American Samoa, especially for visitors from areas where bats are small and rarely seen. Three species inhabit our islands – two large fruit bats.
Fruit bats are considered the only native mammal in American Samoa thus earning the right to be protected within the National Park of American Samoa. Local folklore casts a dark image on fruit bats, portraying them as sinister and devious creatures with connections to the spirit world. These superstitions undermine their ecological importance to the native tropical rainforest. Fruit bats help transfer pollen from one tree to another.

ANZAC Poem

Down in the trenches, dark and dull,
When you are being bombed, it's like you need a spell,
When you think about your family at home, there is no time to be sad,
Because you are fighting for your country, while knowing that soon your lives will end.
Lest we forget.

Things that are special to me

For homework this week we had to take a picture of something special to us at home.
We have to explain why it is special to us.
I have chosen this picture because I have always loved my dog called Tui. She is called Tui because there is a little white strip under her chin like a Tui!
We got Tui in October 2012 so she is now 3 years old but still always as fluffy as she used to be.
Tui is special to me because I have always loved animals and dogs are my favourite!

Waimarie Hospital

On Friday we went to the Waimarie hospital and met the elderly people. This is how it went.

When we got to school, we did the roll as usual and lined up. Then when Miss Cooper chose our buddies we got a box or a bottle of baking and a piece of lavender.

After we had crossed the school pedestrian crossing we started to walk up the hill.  Soon we arrived at the Waimarie hospital.

Then we went in groups up the elevator into a waiting room. Soon after that we got to go outside to meet the residents and give then a little bunch of rosemary with a ribbon. Some of us were shy to meet the residents but Freya and I went together to talk to a lady called Noel.

It was time to share our lovely baking with them and we got some ourselves! Then we had to say goodbye and some people were giving out lemon ribina gifts that we had made in class.

Sadly it was now time to go home. We were very lucky and we got a little bag of goddies to say thank you.
